The Eastern Long Island Hospital Auxiliary, a 125-member volunteer group that fundraises for Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, raised a record $555,000 in 2022. The donation is part of the Auxiliary’s total contribution of more than $2,350,000 million in gifts over the last five years. VFW Post 5350 in Westhampton Beach held its Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen awards on January 26. Students from Hampton Bays, East Quogue, Raynor Country Day School and Remsenburg-Speonk were recognized for their achievements in this essay and oratorical competition. Also at the event, the VFW Department of New York Teacher of the Year, Korey Williams a social studies teacher at Westhampton Beach High School and a life member of Post 5350, was recognized for his contributions to the program. The local Knights of Columbus chapter held its annual Free Throw Contest last Friday at Westhampton Beach Middle School. The winners received a certificate, a new basketball and a medal for their achievement, plus an invitation to compete at the next level. The boy winners, by age, were Brody Selig (9), Jake Krentzman (10), Brandon Pesce (11) and Cian Belkin (12). The girl winners were Riley Magner (10), Tierney Canty (11) and Kaitlyn Lynch (14).
