The Concerned Citizens of Montauk awarded certificates to 28 students in grades three through eight, who earned the top places in the 2022 Montauk School Science Fair held on April 1. Additionally, CCOM President Laura Tooman delivered $700 in cash prizes to the top performing students in grades five through eight and another $300 in complimentary CCOM family memberships to the six first-place winners in grades five to eight.

“These students are the future of our community and creating true environmental stewards should be a top priority. CCOM looks forward to working with these incredible students as they continue to expand their scientific understanding and appreciation of this incredible place we call home,” noted Tooman.

The Montauk Historical Society is behind an event in which representatives of the Quogue Wildlife Refuge will be at the Montauk Lighthouse on Saturday, June 4. The whole family is invited to get up close and personal with a snake, turtle, bird and insect, and learn all about the history and adaptations of their species. There are two shows scheduled, noon and 1:30 p.m. and both are free.

Volunteers and donations of non-perishable foods (or money) are needed to keep Montauk’s Little Free Food Pantry (located at the Montauk School) up and running and stocked for those in need.

The Amagansett Village Improvement Society will host a 100th anniversary T-shirt design content, accepting submissions through June 15.

The Jewish Center of the Hamptons, in partnership with The Perlman Music Program, will present “Tutti Suonare” on Saturday, June 11, at 7 p.m.. The program will feature artist-faculty Itzhak Perlman, Merry Peckham, Kirsten Docter, Patrick Romano, Saeunn Thorsteinsdottir, Don Weilerstein and Vivian Hornik-Weilerstein and Chamber Music Workshop’s young artist participants as they perform and sing together, this year in memory of longtime faculty member Roger Tapping. “We are overjoyed that we can once again partner with PMP and bring magnificent music back into our sacred space,” says Rabbi Debra Stein.

After a two-year COVID hiatus, DanceHampton is back with live performances next weekend. On Friday, June 10, at 6 p.m., and again on Saturday, June 11, at 1 p.m., the dance company will present “The Time of Our Lives,” a celebration of its 15 years of recitals on the East End. Then, on Saturday, June 11, at 7 p.m., the DanceHampton company dancers will take part in a competition showcase. All performances are at East Hampton High School on Long Lane.

In observance of the holiday of Shavuot, Center For Jewish Life will be holding an Ice Cream Party and Torah reading of the Ten Commandments. The Church, 48 Madison Street, will host “Sag Harbor in Focus,” for its sixth annual celebration of the Village of Sag Harbor and living on the East End, as experienced by the students from Pierson High School. The exhibition will include photographs in eight separate categories including Portraiture, Landscape, Architecture, Still Life, Home and Family, A Sense of Place, People and Activities, and Inside Out. The students’ work was assembled by artist and Pierson High School art teacher Peter Solow and art teacher Liz Cataletto, including work from their Advanced Photography and Photography classes.

An opening reception and award ceremony is planned for Wednesday, June 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. The show will run from June 9 through 18, with hours from Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

The Sag Harbor Masonic Club’s Tuesday Jam Session continues this week, from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Masonic Temple. The Jam Session is inspired by the late-night jam sessions and loft rehearsals in New York City.

The Masonic Temple is located at 200 Main Street, Sag Harbor, above the Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum, with plenty of parking in the rear of the building.

Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic will hold its annual East End Benefit on Saturday, June 4. Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America will be the honored guest at the event that will start at 7 p.m. at the Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club. According to a press release, she will be speaking about how Planned Parenthood has been working to combat the constant assaults on abortion access around the country.

A new season in the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center’s “Thinking Forward” Lectures Series continues on Saturday, June 11, at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 141 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike. The topic, “Equality Matters In the Hamptons,” will focus on “The Center’s History Uncovered” and will be presented by Mark Torres, author of “Local Island Migrant Camps: Dust for Blood.” Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center board member Reverend Tisha Dixon Williams will moderate.

Torres uncovered more research about the center, which was founded after a tragic fire on October 22, 1950, in which children perished.

A Chess Showcase is planned at the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center for Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

And on Friday, June 17, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. the children and six teaching artists will present Art in a Box. They are planning to wrap the basketball court and display the art in that box. The show will include ceramics, painting, textiles, photography, collage, and drawing.

The Parrish Art Museum features speakers in rapid-fire presentations about living creatively on the East End at PechaKucha Night Hamptons, Vol. 36, on Friday, June 3, at 6 p.m. The speakers, who will show 20 images for 20 seconds in compelling 6-minute and 40-second long presentations, include Sarah Alford, Brianna L. Hernández, John Melillo, Ted Nemeth, Camille Perrottet, Mark Seidenfeld, and Denise Silva-Dennis. PechaKucha will be presented in person at the museum and livestreamed.

Also at the Parrish, on Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12, the Parrish Art Museum presents its annual two-day horticulture event Landscape Pleasures, featuring a Saturday morning symposium with leaders in landscape architecture David Hocker, Laurie Olin, and Joe Wahler. On Sunday, registrants may take self-guided tours of five private gardens on the East End. Tickets to Landscape Pleasures start at $200 and include admission to the symposium, garden tours, and a Friday evening screening of the film “The Gardener.”

The Members Art Show at the Water Mill Museum, 41 Old Mill Road, continues through June 12. It features the work of more than 100 of its members. The Clay Art Guild of the Hamptons will be hosting its annual Charity Yard Sale on Saturday, June 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the courtyard of the Water Mill Museum. World Central Kitchen will be the beneficiary of this year’s sale. The nonprofit has provided over 20 million meals to Ukrainian citizens displaced during the war. Handmade pottery by local artists will be sold, including mugs, plates, vases, dishes and so much more.

The Clay Art Guild of the Hamptons Inc. is a non-profit creative community devoted to teaching clay art, exhibiting clay art and providing an environment for the enrichment of clay artists.

A one-woman play, “My Story, My Voice,” will open on Saturday, June 4, at 7 p.m. at the Southampton Cultural Center. An additional performance is set for Sunday, June 5, at 5 p.m.

The play brings into focus some of the struggles and pressures that might be experienced by children of immigrants in Western society.

Tickets are $25 general admission; $15 for students under 21 and are available in advance at scc-arts.org or at the door before the performance.

The Southampton Artists Association’s Memorial Day Art Exhibit, featuring more than 40 participants, continues through Sunday, June 5, at the Southampton Cultural Center. Gallery hours are Sunday through Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. CDC guidelines for social distancing will be followed.

The grounds of the Southampton History Museum will be the location for the Hampton Flea + Vintage market on Sunday, June 5, at 10 a.m. The curated show will include vendors showing one-of-a-kind vintage clothing and collectibles.

A lecture on local farm produce and healthy meals, which will include a three-course meal, will take place at the East End Food Institute, 39 Tuckahoe Road, Southampton, on Tuesday, June 7, at 4 p.m. The program is sponsored by Temple Adas Israel in Sag Harbor. The cost is $40.

Donors age 76 and older can continue to donate blood if they meet all eligibility criteria and present a physician’s letter allowing them to donate.

The need for blood donations cannot be overstated. From organ transplants to heart surgeries, today’s advanced medical care relies on blood transfusions. When one person donates a unit of blood, it can be separated into individual components to save multiple lives. Blood donors help meet the daily transfusion needs of cancer and surgery patients, accident and burn victims, newborns and mothers delivering babies, AIDS and sickle cell anemia patients, and many more.

The North Fork Community Theatre will hold a Building on Tradition Gala with a Concert By the Bay on June 11. Two concerts are planned, 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The concerts will be held at Veterans Memorial Park in Mattituck, overlooking the Great Peconic Bay. The proceeds from the gala will go toward the renovations of the theater.

Children from newborn to age 4 are invited to participate in a series of high energy music classes led by Ramblin’ Dan’s Freewheelin’ Band, at the Southampton Arts Center. The series continues through August 3.
