Hampton Bays has 13 students recognized as AP Scholars. They are (not in order) and their designation: AP Scholar Melissa Barreto, Jacob Helfand, Julia Heming, Marissa Kennedy, Sarah Oh and Diana Ramirez; AP Scholar with Honor Gabrielle Caine, Lily Candelaria, Dylan Fotopoulos, Ian Hubbard, Skye McMorris and Riley Stotzky; and AP Scholar with Distinction Alexander Rojas.

Asked by the nonprofit Southampton Day Care if it would remove the old playground cover and replace it with rubber mulch, they stepped up and did the big job at no cost, the result of which is very happy youngsters at the center. First Coastal in Westhampton Beach is owned by Billy Mack and  Aram Terchunian and the workers put in long hours to make it happen.

Two Whoppers

Governor Kathy Hochul recently issued two whoppers of vetoes of measures passed by the New York State Legislature. One was of a bill that recognizes the Montaukett Indian Nation. As East Hampton Town declared in a proclamation in November, “the Montaukett remain resilient.” But don’t tell that to Governor Hochul.
