David J. Squirrell of Southampton and formerly of Rochester, New York, died suddenly on August 24 in Southampton. He was 61.

He was born on October 11, 1960 in Rochester to Harley Squirrell and Beryl (Smith ) Squirrell. He attended Greece Olympia High School. He held various positions in the medical and management fields in Rochester.

He later changed careers and worked in information technology. He spent many years employed by Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

He married Diane Lipomi in 1993. They settled in Southampton in 1996. He loved Coopers Beach, his dogs, and was a long-time Buffalo Bills fan, his family said.

He was dedicated to the Southampton Fire Department and its members.

He will be remembered by all for his kindness, his easy going demeanor and his good humor, his family said.

He is survived by his wife Diane (Lipomi) Squirrell; his brothers, Robert Squirrell (Alison Sykes) and James Squirrell; and many cousins, extended family, and friends.

Memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Salvation Army (salvationarmy.org) or the Southampton Fire Department (southamptonfd.org).

Pancake Breakfast Hosted by Youth Bureau

The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau’s Youth Advisory Committee will hold its sixth annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 5, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Hampton Bays Community Center, 25 Ponquogue Avenue. Proceeds will support future youth-led community service projects. In addition to the pancakes, there will be crafts, games, and raffles with prizes donated by local businesses. Great Easter Egg Hunt in Hampton Bays on April 5

The Great Easter Egg Hunt, organized by the Hampton Bays Chamber of Commerce, will be held at Good Ground Park on Saturday, April 5. Get there by 10:30 a.m. for the 11 a.m. hunt. The deadline to order banners for the 2025 Hometown Heroes Banner Program is April 18. Killer Bees Exhibition Game To Benefit Library

An exhibition basketball game, “Bees for Books,” pitting the Bridgehampton Killer Bees against Bees alumni, will take place on Friday, April 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brigehampton School. The event will raise money for the Hampton Library. Tickets, sold at the door, are $10 for adults and $5 for students, and children under age 5 get in for free. Bicycle Donations and Volunteers Sought

Neighbors in Support of Immigrants is planning its fourth annual Bicycle Recycling Day. The project started as a way to provide transportation to summer jobs for teens and families who have no car or just one car. This year, NISI will work with the Long Island Bicycle Cooperative whose volunteers will repair bikes in any condition preparing them to give away. This year the cooperative has promised 50 road-ready bikes, more than has been collected before.
