Last Sunday, May 15, Neighbors in Support of Immigrants, a Hampton Bays organization of 15 years, gave away 23 used bikes to students in the area who might use them for summer jobs and recreational activities.
A brand new bike was donated by Ben Olavarria, the proprietor of the Hampton Bays Local Bike Shop, and a group of Latina mothers in our town donated two other new bikes — all three for the raffle that was also held that day.
Thank you also to Lisa Patina, who works with immigrant students at Hampton Bays High School, for finding students who need mobility.
