Doris Patricia Nolan of Copperhill, Tennessee died peacefully on July 24 in her home in Tennessee after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 79.

She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living life to its fullest; always showing gratitude for life’s blessings, her family said. Ms. Nolan, or Pat, as she was affectionately called by friends and family, was born December 16, 1941, in Southampton, the daughter of William and Doris (Browngardt) Liehr.

A lover of all things crafty, Ms. Nolan found pleasure in cross-stitching, knitting, and sewing. She was always working on several projects at a time, and they were almost always for her family that she adored with all of her heart, her family said.

If Ms. Nolan wasn’t sewing, she was either reading her Kindle, working on crossword puzzles, or gardening outdoors. She took delight in the simplest pleasures in life whether it was tending to her flowerbeds, planting trees, feeding the hummingbirds on her back porch, or just admiring the views from her home in the mountains of Tennessee.

She loved to travel with her husband. Together they went on many exciting adventures. They traveled the United States in their RV, cruised the Caribbean and Europe, and they also took many vacations with friends and family. Ms. Nolan always looked forward to vacationing with her brother, Bob, and her sister-in-law, Donna; her cousins Jean Liehr Doughty and Bill Liehr, and their spouses, too. Pat loved spending time with family and friends. The greatest legacy she left behind for her family is a life full of happy memories.

She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of nearly 58 years, Ronald Nolan; her four children and their spouses, Jim and Shari Nolan, Bill and Carol Nolan, RJ and Joy Nolan, and Kate Nolan and George Stepanovich; her four grandchildren, Chasity Mocarski, Sean Nolan, and Katelyn Nolan; her eight great-grandchildren; and her brother Robert (Bob) Liehr and his wife Donna. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Doris Liehr.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Pat Nolan will take place at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery in Southampton on August 14 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Doris Patricia Nolan be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
