Dorothy “Dot” Marrin Catena of Hampton Bays died at her home on Friday, May 15. She was 91.
A homemaker who spent her time caring for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews, she was known as the matriarch of the Catena family.
Mrs. Catena is survived by two sons, Silvio D. Catena and his wife Maryanne, and Richard F. Catena and his wife Renee, all of Hampton Bays; a brother-in-law, John Wourgola; three grandchildren, Theodore Catena and his wife Antoinette, Cassie Fredericks and her husband Steven, and Amanda Catena; six great-grandchildren, Jean Louise, Kaylee, and David Catena, and Hannah, Lydia and Claire Fredericks; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, David; a sister, Mildred Wourgola; a brother, Frederick Marrin; and a grandson, Silvio David Catena Jr.
A prayer service was held at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on May 19, by clergy of St. Rosalie’s Roman Catholic Church in Hampton Bays. A funeral service was held at St. Rosalie’s on May 20; interment followed at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays.
Serving as pallbearers were David Smith, Steve Fredericks, Greg McGann, David Dawes, Kenny Lohr and Billy Anderson.
