Dorothy Wagner Fischer

Former Quogue resident Dorothy Wagner Fischer died at Peconic Landing in Greenport on Thursday, January 15.

“Dickie,” as she was affectionately known to her friends and family, and her husband, William, were also former residents of New York City.

She graduated from the Spence School in New York City and Pine Manor College in Boston. She embarked on a successful career in publishing and editing starting with Glamour Magazine in 1947, and working on assignments with Abercrombie & Fitch, Hammacher Schlemmer and Home and Garden Magazine.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (Mary Washington Chapter), the Mayflower Society, the Quogue Beach Club, the Quogue Field Club, and the Westhampton Garden Club.

In addition to her husband, William H. Fischer, she is survived by a brother, Richard D. Wagner and his wife Madeline; a nephew, Richard D. Wagner Jr. and his wife Carole; and four cousins, Lucas and Adam Wagner, Rebecca Nesmith and her husband James, and William B. Hugonin and his wife Dr. Gloria Fernandez Hugonin.

She was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and Richard A. Wagner of New York City and Colebrook, Connecticut.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 24, at the Westhampton Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Quogue Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport.

In lieu of flowers, donations to East End Hospice, P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978 would be appreciated by the family.

Southampton Police Reports for the Week of December 4

SOUTHAMPTON VILLAGE — Matthew Kopoulos, 34, of East Hampton was arrested by Village Police on December 2 and charged with petit larceny and unlawfully fleeing an officer, both misdemeanors, stemming from a September 25 incident in which police say Kopoulos stole items from the 7-Eleven on North Sea Road and then fled the scene on an e-bike. When a Village Police officer attempted to stop him he sped away and drove onto the Shinnecock Territory.
