Edith Hendrickson Williams, formerly of Bridgehampton, died peacefully at her home in Raleigh, North Carolina, with family on August 29. She was 105.
She was a strong, kind, and loving wife, mother and grandmother, her family said, who graced her family in many ways. She spoke her mind, a quality she passed on to her children.
She was born on February 20, 1917, on Hill View Farm on Lumber Lane in Bridgehampton, the family farm of her parents Howard Francis and Edith Rogers Hendrickson.
After attending Colby College in Maine, and later earning a nursing degree, she married Paul Stuart Williams, also from Bridgehampton. They moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, following Paul’s service in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where their four children were born, Stuart (Debbie), Stephen (Jenny), Curtis and Abigail.
The couple later moved with their family to Iowa, North Carolina, and Indiana, and then spent their retirement years in Sedona, Arizona, and Raleigh.
She was predeceased by her parents; her two brothers Edwin and Richard (the “Weatherman”) Hendrickson; and her husband Paul. She is survived by her four children and their extended families, including grandsons Ian (Laurie) and Peter (Jill) Williams and great-granddaughter Iris.
Private services will be held at a later date in Bridgehampton.
