Eileen Kenna Of Southampton Dies

Eileen (Gibbons) Kenna of Southampton died on October 15 at Stony Brook University Hospital. She was 77.

Born December 27, 1935, in Corona, she moved in 1998 to Southampton, where she became an active member of the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton as a social outreach volunteer, and also worked part time in the parish office.

She was a 1954 graduate of St. Agnes Academic High School in College Point and later received a secretarial certificate from Katharine Gibbs School.

She married John F. Kenna in 1961 and they lived in Astoria until Mr. Kenna’s death in 1998.

Ms. Kenna is survived by her children, Margaret Skibbens and husband Robert of Pennsylvania, Frank Kenna and wife Stacey Kenna of Forest Hills, and Kara Reich-Hale and husband David Reich-Hale of Babylon; and six grandchildren, Joseph and Erin Skibbens, Connor and Jordan Kenna, and Donovan and Amelia Reich-Hale.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. Memorial donations may be made to the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, www.shjmbasilica.org; Rogers Memorial Library, www.myrml.org; or the Susan G. Komen Foundation, www.komen.org, for breast cancer survivors.
