Elizabeth Mill Of Westhampton Dies November 20

Elizabeth B. Mill

Elizabeth B. Mill, a lifelong resident of Westhampton, died on November 20 at the Peconic Bay Skilled Nursing Facility in Riverhead. She was 86.

Ms. Mill was born to Andrew and Josephine Mill, who immigrated from Poland. She was raised on a farm and graduated from Westhampton Beach High School, where she excelled as an athlete. She worked for both the Department of Motor Vehicles and Brookhaven National Laboratory, retiring in 1992.

Ms. Mill enjoyed getting her hands dirty as she painted a house, maintained her yard and even dug ditches. She was proud of her Polish heritage, enjoying Polish music and big band tunes. She also loved the outdoors, enjoying gardening, visiting the beach and ocean and ice skating. She appreciated the beauty of nature, survivors said. She was an avid animal lover, owning a collie, Prince, and a Maine coon cat, Kaya.

According to her family, Ms. Mill will be remembered for her love of singing and dancing. She lived her life with humor, dignity and grace. She found pleasure knowing she brought joy and knowledge to the people she touched, survivors said.

Ms. Mill is survived by a sister, Jessie Schwab of Patchogue; a brother-in-law, Leo Siclari of Florida; and many nieces and nephews, including Wilemina Gorozdos of Maryland, Paulette and Scoot Lee of Florida, Virginia and Joseph Lebeda of Florida, Patricia and Joseph Perino of Patchogue, and Jacqueline and George Kurrass of Florida.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Mill was predeceased by a brother, Frank Mill, of Brookhaven; and four sisters, Billie Gaylor of Maryland, Genevieve Simons of Louisiana, Helen McMullen of Patchogue, and Wanda Siclari of Florida; and two brothers-in-law, John McMullen and Ernest Schwab of Patchogue; a nephew, Richard Gorozdos of Maryland, and a niece, Joan Hoover of Maryland.

The family received friends at the Follett and Werner Funeral Home on November 23. A funeral Mass was held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Quiogue on November 24. Interment followed at the Westhampton Cemetery.

Alan Vasquez, 18, of Hampton Bays was arrested by Quogue Village Police on November 4 and charged with misdemeanor DWI.
