Flanders Man Charged In Moriches Shooting

A Flanders man, Michael Gilbert, 28, has been charged with second-degree murder in the November 26 shooting of Tyrell Durham, 37, of Moriches.

Suffolk County Police were called to the victim’s residence on Tall Oaks Circle at approximately 1 a.m. He had been shot outside his house, was raced to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue and pronounced dead there.

If convicted of second-degree murder, Gilbert faces a minimum sentence is 15 years in prison with a maximum of 40.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the homicide squad at 631-852-6392 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH — Frank Magnone, 33, of Westhampton Beach was arrested on May 24 by Westhampton Beach Village Police and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
