Florence Rosenblum of Southampton died on February 27. She was 96.
She was born on March 3, 1927, in Southampton Hospital and died just shy of her 97th birthday at Southampton Hospital.
She was a lover of art, animals and, above all, reading, her family said. She had a thirst for knowledge and was always reading several books. History, art and architecture, in particular, were her favorite subjects.
She went to Mount Sinai Nursing School. After a time, she realized that her passion lay in the arts. She worked at the MOMA for 10 years.
She and her husband, Sig Rosenblum, subsequently started a print business called Cobble Hill Prints.
Well past the normal retirement age; she worked at Ann Madonia Antiques in Southampton as well as H. Groome. She loved being surrounded by beautiful things that had a history to them and connecting with people, her family noted.
She also volunteered at Rogers Memorial Library and worked tirelessly on their book sales. She was loved by many who will miss her terribly, her family said.
She is survived by her niece, Carol Wellins; and her nephew, Garrett Wellins and his wife Annamarie; grandnephews and grandniece Ryan, Patrick and Mollie; and her great-great-niece and great-great-nephew Natalie and Max.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (sasf.org) would be appreciated by the family.
