Former Sag Harbor Resident Marytherese Bennett Dies February 28

Marytherese Bennett

Marytherese Bennett of East Lyme, Connecticut, and formerly of Sag Harbor, died on February 28. She was 51.

Born on April 18, 1961, in Rockville Center, she later moved to Sag Harbor with her family and she attended Mercy High School in Riverhead and graduated from Pierson High School.

Ms. Bennett is survived by her husband, Nathan; her parents, Wallace and Isabelle Moyer; six children, Nathan and Nicholas of Manorville, Michael, Marykate, Matthew and Maria, all of Connecticut; two brothers, Wallace and Thomas of Sag Harbor; and a sister, Monica Lerhman of Upstate New York.

A funeral was held on March 5 at St. Andrew’s Church in Sag Harbor; burial followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor.

In its first pass at the 2025-26 budget, officials at the Southampton Union Free School District suggested growing the tax levy by 3.02 percent, or nearly $1.9 million — which would still be within the state cap on tax levy increases due to certain exemptions, according to Jean Mingot, assistant superintendent for business.
