Franklin D. Stahler
Franklin D. Stahler of Southampton died on Sunday, October 28, at his home in Southampton. He was 73.
Born in Marion, Ohio, on June 17, 1939, to George C. and Vada L. Stahler, Mr. Stahler served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Montauk, where he met his wife, Ann.
A man of many talents, Mr. Stahler had a love of guitars and cars, and a deep appreciation of nature and loved his birds and fish. He began walking during the last years of his life and many people knew him from his daily walks. He became known to many as “the guitar man” or “walking man.”
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann M. Stahler; two daughters, Dana M. Shepher and Linda E. Bunce; and a son, Chet M. Stahler. He is also survived by a sister, Mary McGowan; two brothers, Paul Stahler and Charles Stahler; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Betty Jackson; and three brothers, Clyde, Robert and Alfred J. Stahler.
A prayer service was held during the visitation on Saturday, November 3, at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. Cremation followed.
