Frank Xavier “Corky” Corcoran died at his home in San Tan Valley, Arizona, on October 30, 2019. He was 76.
Born in Carle Place in 1943, he was a graduate of Chaminade High School in Garden City. After graduation he began his own successful fencing business in Carle Place. In 1965 he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Irene. They loved traveling to the Caribbean together, eventually purchasing property in the Bahamas. Mr. Corcoran was an avid fisherman and spent many days in the waters off the Florida Keys with friends and family.
They had two children, Frank “Tiny” Jr. of Massachusetts and Jessica Kaphan of San Tan Valley.
Mr. Corcoran later became a member of the Ironworkers Local 580 Union and worked on many construction projects in and around the New York area, including Ground Zero in the aftermath of 9/11.
In 1989, the family relocated to Hampton Bays, where he made many friends. His wife, Nancy, died in 2003.
He married Barbara Van Nostrand of Southampton in 2004 and, upon his retirement from the Ironworkers Local, they moved to Arizona where they enjoyed the sunshine and swimming in his pool.
He was an avid consumer of national and local politics and delighted in political discourse, which was often interspersed with his infectious booming laughter, survivors said.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; and children, Frank Jr., Jessica, Suzanne, Donald and Gary; and grandchildren, Savannah and Shane.
