Beginning May 16, the use of gas-powered leaf blowers will be prohibited in Southampton Village making it the first municipality on the East End to fully ban the use of gas-powered blowers.

There’s good news for beachgoers who want to enjoy summer weekends in September, safely, at the ocean. The Town of Southampton will continue to staff Ponquogue Beach in Hampton Bays with lifeguards for the next two weekends, meaning lifeguards will be on duty, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., at the popular beach on September 7 and 8 and September 14 and 15.
