Gerome Christopher Williams

Gerome Christopher Williams of Hampton Bays died on December 28 at Southampton Hospital. He was 36.

Mr. Williams was a citizen of the United States, but was a native of Jamaica, born on July 3, 1976 to Beryl McKenzie and Albert Williams of Portmore, Jamaica, both of whom survive him. He attended school at the Mona Preparatory School in St. Andrew, Jamaica. Then, at age 12, he took Common Entrance and moved on to Wolmers High School.

In 2003, Gerome made his way to the United States to start his new life. He married Cynthia Lyons of Amagansett in 2005. He worked at Cromer’s Market in Sag Harbor, and was known by all the customers as always having a smile ready, survivors said. After leaving Cromer’s, he began working at the Mobil gas station in Southampton, and then CVS pharmacy, also in Southampton.

Mr. Williams was a loving, caring, and gentle father, survivors said. There was nothing and no one more important to him in this world than his daughter, Briana Christina Smith Williams. His passion in life was music and cars. He loved to promote parties and also being a DJ. He loved to make people dance and have a great time. Seeing people smile was one of the joys in his life.

Mr. Williams is survived by his girlfriend, Sharvon Cooks and her daughter, Aries Cooks, of Bridgehampton; his wife, Cynthia Williams of North Carolina; and his daughter, who lives in Southampton. He is also survived by two brothers, Paul Boris-Williams of Connecticut and Wayne McKenzie of Queens; three cousins, Devon, Hyacinth and Andrea; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service was held at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton on January 5.

The Mountain

Southampton Town officials, it must be said, are very much on point when it comes to affordable housing.
