Giving Thanks

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5350 in Westhampton Beach completed its annual “Turkey Trot” on Thanksgiving morning at Gabreski Airport. The weather is traditionally challenging on this great American holiday, and it was again on this day, yet many of our supporters showed and ran and walked and smiled and started their day with thanks for all we have.

This event is not possible without the support of my veteran comrades and the great support of other volunteers. I am always afraid when saying thank you that I will forget someone, but here goes.

Our sincerest thanks to: Westhampton Beach Brewery, John Maloney at VRP Insurance Agency, Westhampton Beach Fire Department, Tate’s Bake Shop, Hampton Coffee, Fruit King of Westhampton, East End Trophies, Village Graphics, Westhampton Beach Wrestling Team and Raynor Country Day School.

We at VFW Post 5350 are proud that we have the second-largest membership in New York State — we have attained this by being a post that supports its military, veterans and the youth in our community and beyond. But all this would not be if not for the support and generosity of our local community. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving.
