Last summer, there were no red-winged blackbirds living in the vicinity of Areskonk Creek in Center Moriches. Southampton Village Ocean Rescue (SVOR), a team of volunteer first responders dedicated to open water safety, conducted a cold water rescue drill in Southampton Village on Sunday, February 23. A critical training exercise, it ensures that SVOR’s lifeguards remain prepared for emergency rescues in frigid conditions.
