Hampton Bays Motel Would Be Razed, Replaced With Cottages for Seniors

The Easterner Motel would be leveled and replaced by 10 one-bedroom cottages that would be rented to senior citizens only, according to a new plan by the Southampton Housing Authority.

Councilman Bill Pell said the the had been opposed to the original proposal to make the Easterner Motel into a workforce housing development that would have rented units as small as 350 square feet. The new proposal for senior housing is a "home run," he said. MICHAEL WRIGHT

James D. Green of Hampton Bays, died on March 16th in New York City. He was 63. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday March 21, at 11 a.m. at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton.
