Well, that was fast: Centro is back.
Just a week after the owner of the building that houses the popular Hampton Bays restaurant Centro Bar & Trattoria said to stay tuned for further details on the fate of the shuttered restaurant, those details have now emerged: According to an Instagram post from “Centrohamptons“ making the rounds this week, the restaurant will reopen on March 21.
Building owner John Tortorella told 27East earlier this month that it was premature for him to spill the beans about what was afoot at the restaurant, which opened in 2016 and closed in mid-February of this year, to the dismay of locals who had come to love the restaurant for its wide-ranging menu, its deep collection of wines, and fun features that included a bocce ball court out back.
Tortorella had rented the building to Southampton chef Salvatore Biundo.
The Instragram posting is announcing that Centro will reopen and that the restaurant is back in the swing of things after a winter break.
“Spring is in sight and so are our spring open hours,” the Instagram posting reports.
“Returning from our Winter Break on Thursday, March 21st and we will be open for dinner Thursday through Monday.”
The restaurant is also accepting reservations for Easter Sunday on March 31 and will be open from noon to 8 p.m. that day.
