Henry G. Bauer
Henry G. Bauer of Westhampton Beach, whom friends and family knew affectionately as “Hank,” died on November 13 at his home. He was 80.
Mr. Bauer was born in Vanderlip, West Virginia, on May 15, 1930, to Henry W. and Nellie C. Bauer. He grew up in the Keyser, West Virginia area and joined the U.S. Air Force. While serving in the Air Force, he was stationed abroad in England and stateside in Texas, Maine and at the Suffolk County Air Force Base in Westhampton, where he served with the 519th Air Defense Group.
Following his service commitment, Mr. Bauer married Matilda “Tillie” Bauer, née Carter. Together the couple ran several local businesses: Hank’s Esso, Westhampton Fuel, The Green Thumb Garden Center and Westhampton Equipment Rental Company.
He is survived by a son, Fred Bauer and his wife Terrie; and three daughters, Pat Schultz, Cathy Holliday and her husband Joe, and Sandy Bennett and her husband Mark; plus six grandchildren, Laura and Amber Schultz, Brittany and Lauren Bauer and Henry and Shaun Holliday; and two sisters, Loretta Linda Ross and Barbara Sutherland.
He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Tillie Bauer; and three brothers, William, Neil and Jim Bauer.
The family received visitors on November 14 at Follett & Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach. Funeral services were held on November 15 at the Beach United Methodist Church in Westhampton Beach, followed by interment at Westhampton Cemetery.
