Split Southampton Village Board Hires Police Officer From Westhampton Beach Department

A divided Southampton Village Board voted last week, 4-1, to hire a police officer who until recently worked for the Village of Westhampton Beach, where in 2021 he was suspended following an off-duty rollover accident. According to a letter of reprimand, he had carried a firearm while under the influence of alcohol and left the scene of the accident without promptly reporting it. A March 2022 settlement of disciplinary charges resulted in the officer, Connor Raynor, being suspended for 30 days and forfeiting another 30 days’ worth of paid time off.
