James G. Anderson
James G. Anderson of Hampton Bays died on June 21. He was 60.
A resident of Southampton for the past 35 years, Mr. Anderson was the son of Anna P. Morrison and Gerald W. Anderson. After elementary and middle school in the Babylon School District, he graduated from Babylon High School in 1968.
He later received an associate’s degree from the State University of New York at Morrisville and bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Dowling University. He taught business classes at Long Island high schools and in Saskatchewan, Canada.
He also worked as an “enrolled agent” with the Internal Revenue Service, serving as an accountant and preparing income tax returns. In addition, he had a small lawn care and landscape business in the Hamptons for more than 30 years.
Mr. Anderson enjoyed sports, swimming and taking part in the local Polar Bear Plunge to help support needy families. According to survivors, he will always be remembered as a wholesome, smart, kind man and as an individual.
He is survived by two brothers, Philip R. Anderson of Southampton and Pierce B. Anderson of Middle Island; and a niece, Deanna R. Anderson. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Anderson.
Visitation was held on Thursday, June 24, at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton, where a rosary prayer service was held that evening. A graveside prayer service was held on Friday morning at Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Southampton.
