James Patrick Mulvey died on December 21, 2019, surrounded by his family, at Stony Brook University Hospital. He was 82.
Mr. Mulvey was born in the Bronx on April 11, 1937, to James P. and Anne Mulvey. He served in the U.S. Navy, and was a Sands Point Police Officer and volunteer fireman in the Westbury Fire Department.
Working on large estates in Old Westbury, led him to his first job in plumbing, working for Rudco Plumbing & Heating. With an affinity for the work, he decided to launch his own company, JP Mulvey Plumbing & Heating in Westbury.
Originally enjoying weekends in Hampton Bays, he quickly fell in love with the town and moved himself, family, and his business there in 1972.
Survivors said he was a devoted father and avid nature lover. He loved his time spent at his farm in upstate New York and fishing at the canal in Hampton Bays.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Geraldine; his six children; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; and four siblings.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Scott-Rothwell Funeral Home in Hampton Bays; the family received friends there on Friday, December 27. A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, December 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Rosalie. Burial followed at Good Ground Cemetery.
