Jean Nelson

Jean Nelson, a longtime resident of Southampton and Hampton Bays, died on September 9, 2019, just three weeks shy of her 98th birthday.

Mrs. Nelson was born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens, and, along with her husband, the late Harold Nelson, raised their three sons (Harold, Ed and Rob) in Massapequa.

Survivors said she was much loved by her family and friends, and was the wise and constant calming force in the Nelson household. Her kindness, all-encompassing love, upbeat outlook, and clever wit are why she is a certain first-ballot unanimous choice in the Hall of Fame for moms, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, aunts, wives, and faithful friends, they added.

A memorial service will take place in Hampton Bays in November; details to be announced.

Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice, eeh.org.
