Jody Winarick of Westhampton Beach died on November 11 at The Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Southampton. She was 89.
Winarick was born in Passaic, New Jersey, on August 16, 1932, the daughter of Frank “Duke” and Rose Feher.
She worked as a Realtor for various real estate companies in Westhampton Beach.
According to her family, Winarick’s greatest joy and highest priority was unquestionably family — she was proud of their accomplishments. She was a loving mother to her son Gary and she cherished her daughter-in-law JoAnn, who she always referred to affectionately as her “daughter,” and was a beloved “Nana,” who had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren, Samantha Graham and Cody Graham.
Winarick was also a loyal friend to so many who loved her unique and direct way of telling it like it is, her family recalled, noting that she had a beautiful smile, underscoring the gracious spirit that defined her. Her sense of fun and hilarity brought joy to all who knew her. As an example, she would look her best, despite her illness, and even though she was confined to a wheelchair, she would sometimes be seen whirling her feather boa that was wrapped around her neck. “This was Jody in all her splendor,” her family said, “who warmed our hearts, made us laugh, and kept us guessing always.”
In addition to her family and friends, Winarick devoted her passion and energy toward work and causes she cared about.
She is survived by her son Gary Graham and wife JoAnn; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her brother Laddie Feher and his wife Dorothy.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Peconic Bay Medical Center Foundation, 1300 Roanoke Ave., Riverhead, NY 11901.
