John “JJ” Saladino of Water Mill died on December 7, surrounded by his family. He was 84.
Mr. Saladino was the founder and owner of J & V Auto Salvage in Southampton and Westhampton, a business that he built from the ground up. He spent more than 60 years in the salvage business, working long hours to help the business thrive and be successful.
He was also a pilot and was building his own plane.
Survivors said he loved his family and was a “straight shooter,” and always “told it like it was.”
Mr. Saladino is survived by his wife, Michelle; children, John, Gina, Leslie and Lori; and grandchildren, John Thomas and Indigo Rain.
The family received friends on December 10 at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral Mass was held on December 11 at the Basilica Parish of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton; the Reverend Mike Vetrano officiated. Interment followed at Southampton Cemetery.
