Josephine Dean deLoiselle of Cambridge, Maryland, died on September 8 at her home. She was 52.
Born October 18, 1956, in Riverhead, she was the daughter of the late Ollie Edward Dean and Margaret Mary Butler. She attended Chesapeake Community College in Maryland and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Pi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society.
While in Cambridge, she worked in the customer service department of the National Bank of Cambridge at its High Street branch. Prior to living in Cambridge, she resided at Hoopersville, Maryland, where she worked at Dean Tyler Country Store.
A devout Christian, she enjoyed several hobbies, including reading, baking, sewing and relaxing, particularly with a cup of tea. Survivors noted that she was a true animal lover at heart, and had six pets: Nova, Samantha, Licorice, Catalina, Mihos and Seymour. She referred to her children’s cats as her “grandkitties.”
She is survived by a son, Sean deLoiselle of Maryland; three daughters, Beth and her husband Hans Guerin of Maryland, Erin and her husband Lee Domke of Virginia and Kate deLoiselle of Pennsylvania; and a sister, Maureen Dean, and a brother, James Dean, both of Southampton. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, John Dean.
The family received visitors on September 15 at the Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home in Cambridge, Maryland, where a celebration of life service was held with an afternoon tea, with all attending asked to bring their favorite tea cup. To ensure a bright and vibrant celebration, all who attended were encouraged to wear bright colors or cheerful ties. The Reverend Joseph Kelly officiated at the service and interment followed at Dorchester Memorial Park, also in Cambridge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Dorchester Humane Society, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613 would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be made at the website Curran-Bromwell.com.
