Julie G. (Oliver) von Blomberg, formerly of Southampton, died on January 30 at the Rivercross Hospice in Wichita , Kansas. She was 65.

Born in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of James Oliver and Gayle( Gleason) Willson. Originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, the Oliver family settled in Lake Quivira, Kansas.

She graduated from Kansas State University with a nursing degree.

She was drawn to the East End for a job opportunity at Stony Brook Hospital and to help her mother at the Gayle Willson Gallery in Southampton.

Through the years, she was a fixture alongside her Mom at “ The Gallery” on Job’s Lane. There, she met Ron von Blomberg of Southampton and they wed in Jamaica in 1991. Her daughter Lily Raven was born in 1995.

Traveling often to Jamaica and Louisiana with family, her fond memories go back to her years growing up on Lake Quivira. The daughter of a TWA pilot, she often spent her childhood traveling the world.

She enjoyed the simple times with her GrandPop Pete in Bosier City, Louisiana, riding on his tractor on his property. She was an amazing chef and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Divorced in 2015, she left the East End.

She was predeceased by her mother, Gayle Willson of East Hampton; and her father, James “Pete” Oliver of Kansas City. She is survived by her daughter Lily von Blomberg of Southampton; sibling Amy Patton of Germantown, Maryland; and uncle Dr. Austin Gleason and wife Georgie of Shreveport.

Southampton DWI Arrest for the Week of February 27

Raul Ortega Sanchez, 32, of Shirley was arrested by Quogue Village Police on Montauk Highway in Quogue on February 23 at 3:11 a.m. and charged with felony aggravated DWI.
