Schaffer’s Homer Walks It Off For Bonac Softball The East Hampton softball team (1-5 overall) won its first game of the season in dramatic fashion on Friday at home. After Lydia Rowan’s triple in the bottom of the seventh scored the tying run, Alexa Schaffer won it with a three-run home run that capped the 13-10 come-from-behind victory for the Bonackers. Jim V. Ficorilli of Sag Harbor died in Sag Harbor. He was 92. A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 17, from 6-9 p.m. at Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 17, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.

The orchards of New Jersey are filled with smoke. It is dawn, it is well below freezing, and the orchard on the south side of the highway is vast; the protective smoke cannot fully diminish the white glow of so many flowers. Frost is devastating for fruit farms, so, driving past, seeing this, I pray for them. I know they have been up for hours, doing everything they can.
