Linda “Lovie” Novick Smith of Hampton Bays died on April 29. She was 61.

According to her family, Ms. Smith’s proudest achievement was her daughter Rachel.

To her daughter, sisters, nieces, nephews, and her many friends and extended family, she will be remembered as a loving, funny, amazing, brave and hardworking soul, her family said.

No matter the obstacles thrown in her path, they said, Ms. Smith remained the most positive and cheerful soul.

She is survived by her daughter, Rachel Jenna Smith; and her sisters, Antoinette Barnish, Cynthia Kraeh, Sandra Courtenay and Paulette Novick Dalder. She was predeceased by her parents Adam “Junie” and Adele Novick.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ms. Smith’s memory to the Southampton Animal Shelter would be appreciated.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Werner-Rothwell Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach.

A paramedic attempting to treat a Speonk man who was highly intoxicated suffered a broken nose after the man head-butted him last week. Southampton Town Police say that the man, Manuel Lemus, 31, was being unruly and violent when they were called to a Flanders Road bus stop on February 6.
