Lorraine Esposito of Hampton Bays died peacefully at her home on November 22. She was 83.
She was predeceased by her husband Ralph of 61 years just eight months ago.
Born in Queens, she was a twin to her brother, Kenneth. She enjoyed her years at Grover Cleveland High School and graduated in 1957. She immediately began working as a secretary for Unity Insurance Company in lower Manhattan.
She married Ralph Esposito on June 19, 1960, at Holy Cross Church in Maspeth, Queens. They lived in East New York, Brooklyn and soon became parents to their daughter Rosemary and sons Anthony and Michael.
In 1966, they moved to their permanent residence in Hampton Bays. There, they raised their family in what was then considered, “the country.” She worked at Southampton Hospital as a secretary for many years and later with her husband at their 7-Eleven in Westhampton Beach.
She was a wonderfully creative and giving woman, her family said, lovingly making hand-made gifts for people she cared for. For years, she quilted lap blankets for veterans and crocheted hats for premature babies in hospitals through the East Quogue Homemakers and St. Rosalie’s Church.
She is fondly remembered as having a pure and loving heart, her family said. Her children are forever grateful for her patient, forgiving and encouraging ways.
She is survived by her brother Kenneth Kieszak of Brooklyn; daughter Rosemary Reich (Robert), also of Hampton Bays; sons Anthony of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Michael (Therese) of Clinton, Connecticut; grandchildren Briella, Julian, Marcel, Michael, Aidan and Katerina; three great-grandchildren, Jace, Wyatt and Willem.
