Mabel H. Santelle Of Water Mill And Sagaponack Dies June 4

Mabel H. Santelle, a native of Water Mill and a resident of Sagaponack for over 50 years, died on June 4 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 100.

She was born on November 28, 1921, at home in Water Mill, the daughter of David Halsey and Elsie Topping Halsey. After graduating from Southampton High School in 1940, she attended Rider College in New Jersey. After college, she worked for the federal government, where she met her first husband, Roger Kolter. In 1971, they settled in Sagaponack.

She was predeceased by Kolter. In 1983, she married Joseph Santelle, who is also deceased. She also had a granddaughter, Jennifer L. Dakers, who died in 1975.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Linda and David Dakers of Sagaponack; granddaughters Allison Haring of Sag Harbor and Melissa Dakers of Hampton Bays; great-grandsons Cody Haring and Addison Milligan and great-granddaughter Cameron Milligan; and nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at the Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church on Friday, June 10, where Mrs. Santelle was an active member. Interment followed at Sagaponack Cemetery.
