Maria A. Higgins of Southampton Dies February 3

Maria A. Higgins of Southampton died on February 3 in Southampton. She was 90.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.

Brandon S. Link, 62, of Nevada was arrested by Westhampton Beach Police and charged with misdemeanor DWI on February 8 at 1:07 a.m. Link was pulled over at 32 Oak Street after being observed failing to use a turn signal and running a red light while driving a black Mercedes SUV with Nevada license plates, police said. Police observed that he had glassy eyes and detected a smell of alcohol and asked if he’d been drinking. Link said he had come from a bar, where he’d had a martini, according to police. The Southampton Artist Association’s Winter Show will open today, Thursday, February 20, and continue through March 2 at the Southampton Cultural Center.
