Marie Alice Kelley of Eastport died on January 25. She was 87.

She was born April 26, 1933 in Center Moriches to Peter and Nellie Pomasanoff. Shortly after, the family moved to Tuttle Avenue in Eastport, where Ms. Kelley attended Eastport School. There, she met her husband, Thomas P. Kelley, with whom she married on June 3, 1952.

The newly married couple lived in Eastport. Ms. Kelley worked for New York Telephone until her second child was born. Shortly after, came three more babies. After number five started kindergarten, Ms. Kelley worked at the Eastport School as a teacher’s aide, and she was employed there for over 20 years.

As a young family, the Kelleys enjoyed family time on their boat. In later years, the popular gathering place was Grammie and Pop’s pool.

Ms. Kelley was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her family said, noting that she treasured her children and embraced every moment with them, and that she especially loved her role as Grammie and Great-Grammie.

She was predeceased by husband, Thomas P. Kelley Sr.; her son, Thomas P. Kelley Jr.; and her brother, Walter Harry Pomasanoff.

Ms. Kelley is survived by sister June and Jack Haughn; sister Arlene and Chris Doroughty; sisters-in law Judy Pomasanoff and Joyce Kelley; her daughter Lorene Sullivan; son Jeffrey and Susan Kelley; daughter Jill Kelley and Bruce Schellinger; daughter Teri and Keith Kostuk; daughter-in-law Claudia Kelley; eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Melissa, Gregory, Amanda, Kyle, Sean, Kelley, Jason; nine great-grandchildren, Imanol, Quinn, Maisy, Benjamin, Alexandra, Grady, Josie, Thomas and Louisa; and many nephews and nieces.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Werner-Rothwell Funeral Home, 60 Mill Road in Westhampton Beach, NY. Due to COVID-19, a private service was held for immediate family. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ms. Kelley’s honor to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eastport Fire Department, PO Box 618, Eastport, NY 11941.
