Mary Schuyler Campbell
Mary Schuyler Campbell of Southampton died on May 24 at Stony Brook University Hospital. She was 73.
Born October 20, 1939, in Greenville, South Carolina, she also lived in Houston and Gaffney, South Carolina.
Ms. Campbell was a graduate of St. Mary’s Junior College in Raleigh, North Carolina, Mount Vernon Junior College in Washington, D.C., and she earned a bachelor’s degree from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. While residing in Greenville, she earned a master’s degree in education from Furman University. She was a teacher at Greenville High School.
Ms. Campbell was a member of the Junior League in Greenville, Houston and Southampton. Her other interests included the Westminster Kennel Club and Dog Show, dog rescue and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. She was an avid gardener and rose enthusiast, survivors said.
Ms. Campbell is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Schuyler Campbell; a sister, Jane Campbell Hinton; two nephews, Robert Campbell Scholl and Vincent de Paul Charles Scholl II; and a niece, Ann Marie Reinhold.
A funeral service was held on May 26 at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton; the Reverend Peter Larsen of St. John’s Episcopal Church officiated. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church Episcopal in Greenville on June 4.
