It is with a heavy heart; We announce the passing of Mike Trimarco. Mike was a valued member of our family at Ocean Electric; he brought joy to everyone he met. We were fortunate enough to have Mike as part of the Ocean Electric family for 15-plus years. Mike would always say good morning or ask how everyone’s day was going.

His kind heart and generous spirit made him a pleasure to be around. Mike was always quick to provide a helping hand or word of encouragement to a fellow employee. He was a “Giver”; he always had a small gift for you, whether it was a snack, drink, or something Mike felt would brighten your day. He was a long-time employee of Ocean Electric. Mike started his mornings with a smile, was proud to be an electrician, and treated our clients like Royalty. Mike was a talented and skilled electrician. He earned the trust of our clients and was a highly requested electrician. Mike will be missed by many of who lives he touched. His character and integrity are examples for our employees to emulate. He will always be remembered as “Mike T” of Ocean Electric.

A paramedic attempting to treat a Speonk man who was highly intoxicated suffered a broken nose after the man head-butted him last week. Education, Transportation Are East End Priorities

Last month, Governor Kathy Hochul proposed a $252 billion New York State budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year. As is the case with any state budget, her proposal contains thousands of appropriations and hundreds of proposals for the operation of the state. Her proposal will be reviewed by the State Legislature, leading to a state budget around April 1. Donald Trump has been back as president for a couple of weeks, and he has issued countless executive orders. I lived through every moment of John Leonard’s three years on the board of the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center — he’s my husband — and it was ugly. Nobody pushed Virginia Frati out. Last week, the Town of Southampton set up half a dozen garbage bins at the Hampton Bays Transfer Station so that residents can separately dispose of their food scraps, instead of throwing them away with the rest of the household trash. I want to take this opportunity to thank Southampton Town Council member Michael Iasilli. The work he did to get the speed limit sign up and then reinstalled in a location that should keep the cars heading east going slower than they have been is remarkable. I’m sure most people have seen this sign by now.
