Nellie Clark of Southampton died at Southampton Hospital on Thursday, April 7. She was 81.

Ms. Clark was born on March 14, 1930, to Willie and Vera Stallings, and later moved to Southampton to work at Southampton Hospital. She worked as a nurse’s aide, mostly the night shift, until her retirement in 1995. During the last years of her career, she worked at Southampton Hospital in the maternity ward, caring for newborns.

She loved traveling and did so every opportunity she had. She often reminisced about her trips with family and friends to Hawaii, London, Aruba and 
Germany.

She was a diligent member of the Community Baptist Church in Southampton and served on its missionary board, the Willing Workers, the floral club and as a dedicated choir member. Ms. Clark was also a member of the Aurora Chapter #66 Order of the Eastern Star in Southampton.

Ms. Clark is survived by her husband, Joshua Clark; children, Arthur Stallings and his wife Lillian of New Jersey, Efrem Clark of California, Cheryl Buck and her husband Xavier of Southampton, and Vera Clark of Maryland; grandchildren, Arthur Lee Stallings Jr. and his wife Diane of New Jersey, Tanya Buck of Riverhead and Nicole Buck of Southampton; great-grandchildren, Nicere Buck and Nyava Collins of Riverhead; two sisters-in-law, Marceline Birt of Wheatley Heights and Geraldine Stallings of North Carolina; brother-in-law, Conwell Brumsey of North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her son, 
Terrance Clark; sister, Sarah Trimblett; and brothers, Arthur and Albert Stallings.

Visitation took place Friday, April 15, at Community Baptist Church in Southampton. A memorial service followed; Rev. Donald E. Butler officiating. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
