Norman “Bud” Gundersen of Southampton, NY died on January 11, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. He was 76. Bud was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn to Norman and Catherine Gundersen.
He attended St. Francis Prep High School and continued his education earning a masters degree in clinical psychology. Upon graduating, Bud served in the US Army as a psychologist at Fort Hamilton Army Base in Brooklyn. After his discharge from the Army, he worked at Elizabeth General Hospital as a clinical psychologist and then moved on to become the owner of the Towers Market in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Once Bud made his move to Southampton he joined the employment of The Corcoran Group where he sold real estate.
Bud is survived by his husband David Colelli of Watermill, his sister Kathleen Fleming of New Bern, NC, his brother Bruce Gundersen of East Quogue, his sister Sandra Gundersen of Watermill and his 2 nephews Jerome Fleming of New Bern, NC and David Fleming of Raleigh, NC.
A Mass celebrating Bud’s life will be held at a future date at Sacred Heart Church in Southampton.
Donations in his name can be made to East End Hospice or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
