It’s George Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four” all over again.
Donald Trump has his own “Ministry of Truth.” According to Trump, January 6, 2021, was a “day of love.”
Well, we were all glued to the TV watching the violence and carnage at the Capitol in Washington, D.C., four years ago. Capitol Police officers were severely beaten by the rioters, and a few subsequently died. Members of Congress were hiding from the rioters who were hunting them. The mob was threatening to hang Mike Pence from a gallows that they erected.
The Capitol building was desecrated in every way imaginable … including defecation in public places. A total of 629 people have pleaded guilty and hundreds of others have been charged with crimes for their actions at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 — just a routine day of peace and love, according to Trump and MAGA. And Trump has said that he will pardon all the rioters, including the most violent rioters who beat and injured the police officers.
Four years later, in 2024, Trump won the election to another term as president. No election denial claims by Democrats. No claims of election fraud by Trump. When he wins, everything is fine. Democrats accept election results whether they win or lose. January 6, 2025, Trump’s win is certified without any fanfare.
The differences couldn’t be more stark.
The fate of our Republic hangs in the balance. God help us.
