Patricia Abbey of Southampton died peacefully on December 27 in Southampton, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 88.

She led a very happy, active life filled with family, friends and many activities such as country dancing, church and teaching during her 60-plus years in Southampton.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom that no one could match, her family said. She enjoyed being a math teacher and she ran a Kunmon Center for many years in Southampton.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Helstowski, nee Keane, of East Hampton; her son Thomas Keane of Southampton; son Jonathan Keane of Southampton; and her grandchildren, Rachael Silvey, Nicole Keane, Brenden Mott, Kevin Mott and Shannon Keane. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Winifred Gruss; her husband, Lonnie Abbey; her son Patrick Keane; and her stepson, Tony Abbey.

A memorial Mass will be planned for a future date.
