Patricia Donovan Elmaleh, a trail-blazer in the worlds of fashion and publishing, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on December 16th, 2024. Born on March 12, 1928, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to Dr. Patricia and Eugene Donovan, Pat’s life was one of extraordinary achievements.

Discovered by renowned photog-rapher Richard Avedon in 1945, and photographed by Gordon Parks and Norman Parkinson, among others, Pat quickly ascended to fame as a model. She graced the covers of Life Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Seventeen, and numerous other publications. She also made her mark on televi-sion, as a hostess on the popular quiz show Th e $64,000 Question and appearing in a variety of TV and print ads.

After her illustrious modeling career, Pat broke new ground as the fi rst female salesperson for House Beautiful Magazine. Her 18-year tenure there showcased her keen intellect and determination.

Upon retiring, Pat embraced a quieter but equally fulfilling life in Sag Harbor. She found joy in gardening, hosting gatherings where she delighted friends and family with her piano playing and singing, and lovingly tending to her cherished home.

Pat leaves behind her two beloved sons, Stephen and Daniel Elmaleh, of Sag Harbor and Jacksonville Beach respectively.

A life well-lived, Patricia Donovan Elmaleh will be remembered for her beauty, trailblazing spirit, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. — Dan Elmaleh and Stephen Elmaleh

Area Veterans Day Services Are Planned

MONTAUK The Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation will hold its annual flag ceremony in honor of veterans on Tuesday, November 11, at the Montauk Playhouse Community Center, 240 Edgemere Street. Oskar Pahwul of Sag Harbor died peacefully on October 22. He was 84. Born in Germany, Pahwul came to the United States as a teenager and soon discovered his lifelong calling in art.
