Paula Cora Monte, known for her wit, style, Italian cooking, and DIY interior design, according to family members, died on April 8 due to the COVID-19 virus.

Ms. Monte was born to Barbara and Sebastian Monte in Forest Hills, Queens. She met her first husband, Justin Terzi Jr. on Makamah Beach in Northport while visiting friends. Sparks and summer love turned into marriage. They settled in Westbury where they raised 3 children.

Shopping at her favorite stores: Bonwit Teller, Lord & Taylor, and others, Ms. Monte was often asked for her autograph with people thinking she was Sophia Loren, family members said.

There was a second marriage to Suffolk County detective Edward Sanchez that lasted as long as the first.

She is survived by Bobbi Terzi and Justin Terzi III; grandchildren, Zachary Bamberger, Luciano Bagan and Daniella Bagan; and countless loving cousins, for some reason many of them named Paul, Paula, Paulette, Paula Marie and others, family said.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Lucia Terzi Bagan; brother, Theodore Monte; stepmother, Frances Monte and Bonwit Teller.

Due to current conditions a service cannot be planed. A memorial service will be held on a beach (to be decided) later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help with funeral expenses at gofundme.com/f/in-loving-memory-of-paula-monte.

Mass cards may be sent to: Bobbi Terzi and/or Justin Terzi at P.O. Box 894, Southampton, NY, 11968.
