Pauline H. Kowalski, age 92, passed peacefully into the Lord’s presence on Friday June 2 at her home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Pauline and her husband Bill (deceased) settled in Southampton, NY in the late 1950’s where lifelong memories and friends were made. Pauline was the gregarious and caring “mom” to all who came thru the raucous Kowalski household at the grand home on Post Crossing.

In later years, Pauline moved to Palm Beach Gardens, FL where she so enjoyed her gardens, plants, and wildlife. Shaded by a massive oak and brilliant red Poinciana tree, replete with exotic orchids, Pauline’s house was a landmark in the community. Most importantly, her home became a very special place that made so many memories for all the friends, family members and grandchildren that came to visit over the years.

A devout Catholic, Pauline’s faith in God gave her strength and grace. She shared that faith and ministered with all those she loved, those she knew, and those who needed prayers. Her life journey was always with God at her side, just as she now resides in His house.

Mom’s greatest joy and greatest love in life was reserved for her family. She and Bill had four children: Gene Kowalski and his wife Lourdes of Jacksonville; Kim Brownhill of Palm Beach Gardens; Paul Kowalski who predeceased her in December 2022; and Karen Johnson and her husband Richard of Baldwinsville, NY.

She was the fun-loving, free spirited, goofy and loving Babci (grandmother) to Matthew Johnson (Mollie), Katherine Walker(Matthew), Kirsten Johnson, Dan Brownhill (Angie), Michael Kowalski (Casey), and Victoria Kowalski and great grandmother to Paxton Walker, Harper Johnson, Davis Walker, Reagan Walker, Harper Kowalski, Brayden Walker and baby boy Kowalski due in August of this year.

To each of you who touched and contributed to her life, we thank you. To Dr. Vanaja Sureddi who took such incredible care of Mom over many years, our family is in great gratitude

A Catholic mass will be held at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. A private burial will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Cemetery in Southampton, NY.

Fly free on the wings of His angels Mom and rest in so much beautiful peace.

Turning Point

The Southampton Arts Center was filled with incredible talent, energy and generosity last Thursday — both on stage and in the audience, it was an all-star lineup of the men and (mostly) women who run the region’s nonprofit organizations. Having gathered for an Express Sessions conversation, it turned into a clarion call: Arts organizations, charities helping to feed families, groups focusing on aiding children, or animals, or historic preservation, or community health, or victims of domestic violence — they all had a unified message for the community — “we need help.” It must be said, the South Fork is a ... by Editorial Board
