Southampton Town held its annual junior lifeguard competition this past Saturday, August 14, at Ponquogue Beach in Hampton Bays. The junior guards competed in a number of events that tested their skills, which they learned from senior lifeguards over the past few weeks.

Lifeguard competitions are three-fold: they sustain and uplift employee morale, stimulate personal interest in rescue skill training, and acquaint the general public with water safety procedures and skills used daily by professional lifeguards to advance public safety at the beach.
