Both Pierson boys and girls cross country teams captured Suffolk County Class D Championships this past fall, and in the process, earned a number of postseason honors.

Penelope Greene led Pierson’s girls all season long, winning her second consecutive county title and helping lead the team to another county title. On top of winning a county title, Greene was named First Team All-Long Island by the Nassau and Suffolk County track coaches associations, Nassau Suffolk Catholic High School Athletic Association, and USA Track and Field-Long Island. She was also All-Division and All-League. Brooke Esposito was also All-Division, and the entire team — Greene, Esposito, Hannah Ramundo, Abby Sherwood, Eva McKelvey and Grace Flanagan — was All-League

Ben McErlean won his first ever county title this past fall in leading the boy’s team. He was Third-Team All Long Island, First Team All-County, All-Division and All-League. P.J. Ramundo and Tom Schiavoni was also All-County, All-Division and All-League and Justin Gardiner was All-League. Pierson’s boys were also given the League X Sportsmanship Award and also earned Scholar-Athlete team honors.

Pierson’s field hockey team won its sixth straight county title, advancing to the Long Island Championship where it lost a close game to Carle Place. Mia Gangemi earned All-Tournament honors for her play in both the L.I. and Suffolk County Class C Championships. Sophia Beech was named All-Tournament for the county championship as well. Meredith Spolarich was named All-County, Brooke Esposito was an All-County Honorable Mention, Emma Rascelles was All-Class C, Madison Stuckart was All-Division and Eleana Merola was named the team’s Unsung Hero. Grace Perello was given the Most Improved Award by coaches Nina Hemby and Kim Hannigan, Stuckart was named the team’s Most Offensive Player and Micky Wilson the team’s Most Defensive Player.

Pierson’s Hudson Brindle earned All-County honors while playing for the East Hampton/Pierson football team this past fall. Pierson’s Richard Barranco was named Second Team All-Division, along with East Hampton’s Kevin Bunce and Topher Cullen. East Hampton’s Bryan Pannasch was First Team All-Division.

The East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton girls tennis team was led by Sandrine Becht and Juliana Barahona all season. The two earned All-State honors and were also given the county’s Sportsmanship Award. Chiara Bedini and Eva Wojtusiak were All-County, All-Division and All-League.

East Hampton’s Summer Jones was county champion in the 50-yard freestyle, therefore earned All-County honors in that event, as well as the 100-yard butterfly. Jones also helped lead the East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton girls swim team in the 200-yard freestyle relay, which earned All-County honors. Lily Griffin, Catalina Badilla and Jane Brierley were also on that relay team. Jones was also All League in both the 500- and 200-yard freestyles.

Jane Brierley was All-County in the 100-yard breaststroke and helped the 200-yard medley relay earn All-League honors. Summer Jones, Camryn Hatch and Ava Castillo were also on that team. Brierley, Kiara Bailey-Williams and Ava Castillo swept all three All-League spots in the 200-yard individual medley. Catalina Badilla was All-League in both thee 50 free and 100 fly. Emily Dyner was All-League in the 100 fly as well. Hatch was All-League in the 100 free and 100 backstroke. Bailey-Williams and Lily Griffin were All-League in the 100 breast and Summer Jones, Ava Castillo, Badilla and Hatch were All-League in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Pierson/Bridgehampton boys soccer team reached the Suffolk County Class C Championship, where it lost to Southold. Nick Collage and Jhoziel Guanga-Soliz were named All-Conference while Bridgehampton’s Victor and Luis Paredes were each named All-League. Daniel Martinez earned Academic All-County honors and both Pierson’s varsity and junior varsity squads were given the League VII Sportsmanship Awards. Asha Hokanson was the lone All-League player for the East Hampton/Pierson girls soccer team.

Gylia Dryden and Grace Flanagan were named All-Class C while playing for the girls volleyball team. Dryden was also Academic All-County and named the team’s Most Valuable Player and Angela Gardella was named All-League. Lilith Bastek-Ochoa was named Most Improved and Ngelika Tobias-Narvarez was given the Coach’s Award.

Tucker Schiavoni was the lone All-League golfer for Pierson’s boys golf team. He was also named the team’s MVP. Nathan Dee was tapped as the Most Improved player and Brendan Burke was given the Coach’s Award.

Southampton

The Southampton girls soccer team lost, 1-0, to Center Moriches in the Suffolk County Class B semifinals. Carli Cameron and Charlotte Cardel were both named All-County players. Because the girls finished fourth in League VIII with an 8-4 record, the Mariners weren’t eligible for more postseason awards, according to head coach Sean Zay.

The Southampton boys soccer team lost to eventual county champion Babylon in the semifinals. Griffin Schwartz was named All-County, Turner West and Patrick Matthews earned All-Conference honors and Christopher Sullivan, Adrian Gonzalez and Andrew Panza were each All-League. Sebastian Barajas-Ortiz was All-Academic.

Jack Blackmore led the Southampton boys golf team all season. He was All-County, All-Conference and All-League. Steven Kraszewski was All-Conference and All-League. Jack McDonnell and Liam Blackmore were both All-League golfers for the Mariners. Shelby De Los Santos earned All-League honors while playing for the girls tennis team this past fall.

Billy Malone earned both All-Division and All-League honors while leading Southampton’s boys cross country team. Evan Simeone, Zac Mobius, Harrison Gavalas and Saintino Arnold were each All-League runners. Laine Yastrzemski was All-League for the girls.

Lucy Wesnofske was an All-County Honorable Mention for Southampton’s field hockey team. Kiera Gill and Maggie Gabriele were both All-Class B and Clare Gabriele was All-Division. Bridget Gabriele was named the team’s Unsung Hero.
