The Ponquogue Bridge was reopened to vehicle and bicycle traffic on Tuesday, but there is now a 5 ton weight limit and barriers have been put in place to keep vehicles away from the western edge of the roadway near the bridge's apex. Engineers from New York State found signs of deterioration in the concrete girders that support the roadway during an October inspection and the county is now working on a permanent repair that will restore the bridge's full weight allowances.
