Our East End community was recently shaken by a tragic incident that took a life in an act of domestic violence [“Suspect in Water Mill Murder Committed Suicide in Pennsylvania Police Say,” 27east.com, October 28], bringing an unsettling truth close to home. Every day, three women in the United States are killed due to domestic violence, and this recent tragedy reminds us how deeply these issues impact lives, even within our own communities.
Domestic violence is not limited to any one background or socioeconomic status; it can and does happen everywhere.
At Hope and Resilience Long Island, we are dedicated to supporting victims and preventing domestic violence throughout the East End. We provide critical services such as legal advocacy, emergency rental assistance, counseling and public education.
If you or someone you know is in need of support, please don’t hesitate to reach out — help is here.
